OUR SCHOOL
Arts is not a priority in the Kenyan high school system. Many of these public high schools do not have strong arts programs nor do they focus strongly on the arts and Kenya doesn’t ave an existing arts academy.
According to the Kenya Ministry of education, there are about 3000 public high schools in Kenya and about 800 private schools. Majority of these public high schools rely on the pedagogy created by the ministry.
ZanArtts will fill this gap. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, ZanArtts, will consist of high students; those who are at the age of 13 - 18; 7th -12th grade. These students who will be admitted through an audition process will be artistic students with an interest to pursue the arts as a career or high education.
ZanArtts will focus on a full arts curriculum and will consist of five conservatories which are: Media Arts, Visual Arts, Music, Dance, and Theatre Arts. These departments will select their students through an audition process spend their time equipping them to become entrepreneurs, creative thinkers and pursue opportunities in fields where they are confident, talented, and skilled. ZanArtts will educate and celebrate African arts and emulate our heritage through arts education. The curriculum will be customized and tailored to emphasis our African arts history, current and future.
At the end of every year, the students will have portfolios and reels consisting of the job experiences in places they have worked in, and will put up full performances, film presentations and art-work to showcase learning progression.
The faculty and administration team consists of professionals each working in the industry. The department heads will work with other artists in their department who will run various projects
and activities to build the students skills and experiences.
